International Students
Our strategy regarding international students focuses on reaching out to them from the local universities in order to incorporate this target group into our church body. This will be accomplished by:

» Establishing Bible Study groups on campus
» Setting up a Friendship Family network within the congregation
» Providing an international students’ residence on our church campus
Announcements/Activities:

4Kids of South Florida

Recruit foster parents, volunteers, advocates, and staff from BRCC to provide a quality level of care in foster homes and other related foster programs (enhanced family-style foster homes- initially 2 in the next year) in South Palm Beach County.  4Kids will be opening their Palm Beach County office on our campus in August (next to BRCS development office in Schmidt villas).

Kids for Christ

Partner with BRCC members Brian and Lucia Efferding in reaching the children of inner city Delray Beach.  BRCC partnered with Kids for Christ last year in Carver Estates.  Carver Estates has been closed and is in the process of being rebuilt.  Until then the ministry has moved to another project, Auburn Trace.  Opportunities will include back to school rallies, after-school programs, VBS, etc.  (Our youth group is working with Kids for Christ in July.)

Christmas Children’s Initiative

Encourage our congregation to give toward helping children who we have some opportunity for further connection:

  • Angel Tree-Children of prisoners within South Palm Beach County
  • Foster Children in South Palm Beach County
  • Children connected with the international compassion ministries of Elim Ministry Center in Kathmandu, Nepal and New Hope Church in Kharkov, Ukraine

Food/Clothing

Collect, sort, and distribute clothing to the most needy in Palm Beach County and on short mission trips (currently helping Westgate Tabernacle- Homeless Shelter, West Palm Beach).  The Clothes are stored in the renovated White House garage.

Collect and distribute food for various organizations on an as-needed basis (currently working on developing a stronger relationship with Boca Helping Hands).  It is not contemplated that we would house a food pantry on site at this time.

Work Projects

Identify several work projects each year to help compassion organizations or individuals in needs of physical plant assistance.  Currently we are working with Westgate Tabernacle to renovate their bathrooms.

Elderly

The elderly of our community are many times forgotten.  We are beginning to develop relationships with elderly care facilities.  Currently the Boca Raton Housing Authority has given us permission to work in their Banyans facility.  The women’s group in our church are working with the elderly members of our church, as well.

International Students

At the beginning of the school year we hold a special banquet where we give a warm welcome to new students and offer information on the area and our church. Our International Thanksgiving Dinner is always a highlight of the fall.

The Friendship Family Program pairs international students up with people from our church who invite them for meals from time to time, help them with any questions they have about life in the US and have a lot of fun getting to know someone from another culture. What better way to reach out to the world than by taking a student under your wing!
